My artwork
Here in the Gallery I would like you to enjoy a variety of my work.
My favourite medium of choice is oil paint either on linen, canvas or wood.
However I also paint in both watercolor & gouache and love drawing and printmaking.
Portraits
Over the years my portraits have evolved with different emphasis depending on purpose and patron. I continue to enjoy experimenting with ways to portray individual or groups.
Family Portraits
'A Postcard from France' came about when I discovered that my great Uncle William Brook fought and died in the First World War. This was my grandmother's older brother and he had sent a postcard to her from France before he died. I was struck by this story, spent time researching information from the War memorial and completed my journey with Will, by visiting his war grave near Pozieres, France.
My portrait of 'Mum & Dad' was completed around special birthdays for them both and their wedding anniversary. It is a celebration of their joy and love for each other over so many years and their continued support and love for all of us.
